Update to Heartland DSC Activities
COVID-19 has certainly created disruptions for all of us and Heartland DSC is no exception. Adhering to guidelines for public gatherings and putting the health and safety of our members, supporters and youth we interact with at the forefront, we unfortunately will have to put some of our upcoming plans on hold for the moment.
The Youth Fishing Event and theAnnual Summer Event have both been postponed to later dates to be determined.
The Hunter Education/Live-fire Shooting Experience is still tentatively scheduled for July 25th and 26th, but will be reviewed as the COVID-19 situation evolves regarding the ability to conduct group classroom type activities.
While group functions have obviously been impacted, rest assured that we continue to actively pursue our goal of “Getting Youth Outdoors” whenever and wherever we can.
Here are some of the things that are happening:
Youth Hunts
Heartland DSC has been conducting individual spring youth turkey hunts on the Heartland DSC lease to introduce kids to hunting.
Supporting Youth Shooting
Working in conjunction with the Dallas Safari Club Foundation, funds raised by Heartland DSC are earmarked for a $10,000 grant to the Scholastic Shooting Sports Foundation.
ActionTrack in Action
Heartland DSC’s ActionTrack chair will be utilized by a young man to allow him the opportunity to participate in an outdoor camp in early July.
The 2019 Heartland DSC ActionTrack chair recipient, Cade has especially enjoyed the ability to get outdoors with his mobility chair during this difficult quarantine period.
